Why natural fibres only?
Because they're a joy to work with. Wool, alpaca, cotton, linen and their natural cousins have a softness, warmth and character that make every row feel worthwhile, and they wear beautifully for years.
It also makes choosing easier. Everything you see here has earned its place, so you can browse without wading through hundreds of options.
Which brands do we stock?
We've chosen a small number of brands we trust and love using ourselves. That includes British favourites like Rowan and Sirdar, Swiss yarns from Lang, and Norwegian classics from Sandnes Garn. For needles, hooks and notions, we stock KnitPro and Clover.
What is Return to The Nest?
Most of us have a few balls left over from a project, or a colour that didn't turn out quite how we pictured. With Return to The Nest, you can send unused yarn back to us in exchange for store credit, so it goes towards your next project rather than sitting in a cupboard.
Can we help if you're just starting out?
Absolutely. Our beginner knitting kits are on their way, each with the yarn, pattern and tools you need to finish your first project without having to work anything out on your own. Join our mailing list and we'll let you know the moment they're ready.

We're Vicki and Lewis, and The Yarn Nest is just the two of us. That means every order is picked and packed by someone who cares about it arriving well, and every question you send is answered by a real person who knows the yarns.

Yes. The Yarn Nest is a small, independent UK business run by two people. We're online only, which lets us keep our range carefully curated and our service personal.
Do you sell acrylic or synthetic yarn?
No. Every yarn we stock is made from natural fibres. It's the first thing we check when choosing what to sell.
Do you offer free delivery?
Yes, we cover the delivery cost on orders over £50. Orders under that have a delivery cost of £3.50, shown at checkout.
What can I do with leftover yarn?
Through Return to The Nest, you can send us unused yarn and receive store credit in return. It's a simple way to turn leftovers into your next project.
Do you have a physical shop?
Not at the moment. We're online only for now, but we post across the UK and we're always happy to help by email or on Instagram.
